
Wildcats Conclude Time at UNCG Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Davidson College men's tennis team began the 2023 fall season competing in the UNC Greensboro three-day invitational from Friday to Sunday.
The invitational consisted of doubles matches played Friday and singles matches Saturday with Sunday's singles matches being canceled due to inclement weather.
The Wildcats scattered six doubles wins and two victories in singles competition featuring freshman Charlie Ratliff who picked up his first collegiate singles and doubles win with teammate Sebatian Carpio Moran.
Day One (Friday, Sept. 15): Doubles vs. UNCG & Richmond
Davidson started the first day of the invitational with a doubles match against host UNC Greensboro and then rounded out the day with a match up against Richmond.
Against the Spartans, Udday Singh and Alejandro Solares picked up where they left off a season ago as the 'Cats top doubles pair by claiming a 6-2 victory on court one. Additionally, the duos of Nico Pinzon and Juan Camilo Perez Gongoras as well as Carpio Moran and Nikhil Mukherjee earned 6-1 and 6-4 wins at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.
In the second half of the day, Perez and Pinzon on court two in addition to Carpio Moran and Ratliff on court 3 both took 6-4 wins against the Spiders. Freshman Mukerjee paired up with Tejas Wall of UNCG to claim his second doubles win of the day on court four via 6-3 victory.
Day Two (Saturday, Sept. 16): Singles vs. JMU & Campbell
Carpio Moran at No. 4 and Ratliff on court six were Davidson's victors though the first bout of singles matches against the Dukes. Carpio Moran defeated Julian Lozano 6-4, 5-6, 1-0 (6) while Ratliff beat Edson Sanchez 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (4).
The Wildcats faced a tough Camel's team in the night cap of singles with Campbell winning on all six courts.

The 'Cats will continue competition on Friday, Sept. 22 in their own invitational taking place on the Davidson Tennis Courts and will run through Sept. 24.
