DAVIDSON, N.C. – After playing just under two halves of game action in their first two contests, the Davidson men's soccer team return home for a non-conference match against Presbyterian on Thursday.

The 'Cats have had tough luck with mother nature so far to begin their 2023 season. Mike Babst's squad has only played 89 minutes of game action heading into their third regular season contest of the season. The Wildcats had their opener called at halftime after storms rolled through Alumni Stadium then, their match at Campbell was ended in the 44th minute due to severe weather.

In those 89 minutes, Davidson has rattled off nine total shots with eight of those coming most recently against the Camels. The 'Cats have also shown off their depth in the early going. Mike Babst has utilized two different lineups and has deployed 12 total substitutes that include a mix of veterans and freshmen. First-year man Nico Quanbeck has started the first two games while freshman Ben Minikel-Lacocque earned a starting nod in the opener.

About the Blue Hose
Presbyterian is now under the direction of first-year head coach Nick Finotti and are coming off an 8-1 win over NAIA opponent Southern Wesleyan. Last season, the Blue Hose ended with a 10-5-2 overall record and lost to Campbell in the first round of the Big South Tournament, 5-0.

This year's Presby squad will look a lot different from last year as they lost their top scorer (Nacho Gallego, 5 goals), top point scorer (Gerard Lopez, 11 points), top minutes earner (Carson Griffith, 1450 minutes), and starting goalkeeper (Leo Stritter) from a year ago. They do return Lorenzo Nagy, who was second on the team in goals last year with 4, and Nile Nguidjol who finished third in points with three goals and three assists.

Up Next
Following Thursday's contest, the 'Cats will travel to Blacksburg, Va. to take on Virginia Tech on Sunday night at 6:00 p.m.
