'Cats Break DMR Record at Penn; Four More Cats Compete at Charlotte Invitational

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. / CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Davidson's distance medley relay team consisting of Owen Drometer, Josh Hardin, Jack Muldoon, and Joe dosReis snapped a 30-year old program record at the Penn Relays, and three 'Cats set personal-bests at the Charlotte Invitational on Friday.
The day began in Philadelphia where Owen Drometer, Josh Hardin, Jack Muldoon, and Joe dosReis competed in the distance medley relay, the only event the Wildcats were entered in at the Penn Relays.
Drometer started things off by running the 1,200-meter leg and passed the baton to Josh Hardin after completing his session in 2:55.08.
Hardin then ran the 400-meter portion in 47.65 seconds, the third best split in the event, before passing the torch to Jack Muldoon for the 800-meter leg.
Muldoon then ran a 1:54.44 in his 800-meter section of the race then handed off to Joe dosReis for the final mile.
dosReis completed his four laps around the track in 4:06.93 to give Davidson a ninth-place finish as the Wildcats finished with a combined time of 9:44.09. This mark smashed the previous outdoor DMR record of 10:10.36 which was set back in 1993.
In Charlotte, Miles Kominsky and and Ryan Harris each ran new personal-best times in the 800m invite. Kominsky, a Daniels, West Virginia native cracked the top-ten with an eighth-place finish in 1:53.84. Freshman Ryan Harris took 12th after crossing the line in 1:54.48.
Grahm Breiter notched a new PR in the 1500-meters after he stopped the timer in 3:51.77, and Jack Stajos finished inside the top-15 in the discus after a throw of 45.62 meters.
Davidson will continue at UNCC tomorrow with eight athletes set to compete.
