BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. -- Davidson men's tennis dropped to 5-9 on the season on Sunday afternoon after falling 6-1 to Gardner-Webb on the road.
The Bulldogs won the doubles point with a pair of 6-4 victories on courts one and three to take an early one-point lead.
Maxwell Kachkarov responded swiftly for the Wildcats during singles play, earning a 6-3, 6-0 victory from No. 3 to tie the match at 1-1. Juan Camilo Perez Gongora, Nico Pinzon and Jerry Wang each battled through three-set bouts, but Gardner-Webb ultimately responded with the five remaining singles wins to clinch the match, 6-1.
Kachkarov's win was his first of the season from the No. 3 spot, while he improved to 4-7 overall in solo matches.

Davidson has three matches left in the regular season before heading into the Atlantic 10 Championships on April 26. The 'Cats will play their next match on Saturday, April 8 against UNC Greensboro.
