DAVIDSON, N.C. – One of the most decorated players in program history, Coy Williams '22 has been added to the Davidson football coaching staff as an offensive assistant, head coach Scott Abell announced on Friday.
"We could not be more excited to welcome Coy back to our program as an offensive assistant," Abell commented. "Coy's passion for Davidson and his passion for football, along with an incredible work ethic and character will be a great addition to our staff and program."
A three-time all-conference selection, Williams finished his standout career ranked among the school's all-time leaders in rushing yards (2,319 / 6th), yards per carry (5.8 / 2nd) and rushing touchdowns 36 / 2nd).
"I'm grateful to have the opportunity to continue to be a part of this program," Williams said. "Coach Abell has been a huge influence in my life, and I look forward to learning from him as well as the rest of the staff. I'm excited to pass on what I've learned and continue to teach the game I love."
In addition to helping Davidson to back-to-back Pioneer Football League titles and three straight consecutive FCS Playoff appearances, Williams was twice selected to Phil Steele's Postseason All-American team, while earning a spot on the league's Academic Honor Roll four times.
A native of Lumberton, Texas, Williams graduated in December 2022 with a bachelor's degree in religious studies.
