'Cats Fall in Tight Match to 49ers

CHARLOTTE -- The Davidson men's tennis team dropped a hard-fought battle to regional rival Charlotte on Saturday afternoon, 4-3.
The Wildcats came out immediately with momentum, dominating the doubles point with a pair of quick victories on courts three and one to take the early, 1-0, lead heading into singles play. William Clark and Jerry Wang earned the 6-1 decision on court three followed by Maxwell Kachkarov and Juan Camilo Perez Gongora's 6-3 victory at No. 1.
A pair of straight-set victories on courts six and two from Clark (6-4, 6-4) and Wang (6-3, 6-1) gave the Wildcats a 3-1 lead down the stretch and put the 'Cats on the verge of clinching match point.
Trailing in two of the three remaining matches, the Niners began their comeback bid as they closed out the match with three-straight singles victories to clinch the match in 4-3 fashion.

Davidson's Sunday, March 12 match against Wofford has been postponed, and the 'Cats will return to play on Saturday, March 19 against George Mason.
