Davidson Defeats St. Bonaventure, Falls to Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Davidson men's tennis team captured its first victory of the 2023 season against an Atlantic 10 foe during a double-header slate on Friday.
The Wildcats defeated St. Bonaventure in a 6-1 bout on Friday morning, before falling 7-0 to the Hokies on their home court in the afternoon.
Against the Bonnies, Davidson secured the doubles point after William Clark & Alejandro Solares won a 6-1 match on court two and Jerry Wang & Nico Pinzon etched out a 6-3 victory at court three.
On the singles courts, the 'Cats swept the matches from No. 2 through No. 6, as Solares captured the match point for Davidson with a two-set, 6-3 sweep at court three.
While Pinzon and Wang each won their singles matches at courts five and six, respectively, Maxwell Kachkarov and Juan Camilo Perez Gongora also secured solo victories to wrap up the day. On court two, Kachkarov earned a 6-3, 6-4 win, while Perez Gongora won a dominant match at No. 4, 6-0, 6-1.
