'Cats Set Seven Personal-Best Marks at USC Indoor Open

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Davidson men's track team had six top-10 finishes and seven athletes set new personal records at the USC Open hosted by the University of South Carolina on Friday.
Friday's top finisher for the 'Cats was Jack Stajos in the men's shot put. Stajos finished in third place out of over 30 competitors and set a new personal record with a throw of 15.44 meters. This toss shattered his previous mark of 14.37 meters and ranks him eighth in the A-10.
The 'Cats also turned in a well-rounded showing in the 800 meters. Davidson had six runners finish inside the top-15 with five new personal-best marks set. Jack Muldoon led the way with a seventh place finish in a time of 1:55.01, a new personal record.
Miles Kominsky finished ninth by posting a 1:55.67, and Raphael Degenero ran his fastest time with a 1:55.67, which was good for tenth.
Also finishing inside the top-15 was Ryan Harris, Grahm Breiter, and Owen Lekki who all recorded new personal records by finishing in times of 1:56.02, 1:56.11, and 1:56.15 respectively.
In the 3,000 meters, Henry Griffith ran his way to a top-10 finish and a new top time personally. Griffith finished in seventh in the fastest heat of the event and ran a time of 8:46.38 to snap his previous record of 9:00.12.
To finish the day, the 4x400 relay team consisting of Isaac Bynum, Amit Markos, Lukas Valley, and Bryce Anthony ran the fastest time of the indoor season for the 'Cats with a mark of 3:17.94. This was good for third in the meet and ranks fifth in the A-10.
The men's track and field team will next set their sights on the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships in Kingston, R.I. next weekend.
