Davidson Heads to Richmond for Sunday Tilt

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- With five games remaining in the regular season, the Davidson women's basketball team is headed back to Richmond to take on the Spiders on Sunday afternoon.

Tip off is scheduled for 1 p.m. from inside the Robins Center on the campus of University of Richmond.

THE SERIES

Richmond holds the all-time series at a 6-5 advantage, despite the Wildcats winning the last two meetings.
Davidson beat the Spiders twice during the 2021-22 campaign, winning at the Robins Center, 77-71, during the regular season after Elle Sutphin dropped a career-high 32 points and picking up a 66-62 win during the Atlantic 10 tournament.

LAST TIME OUT... Suzi-Rose Deegan nailed a pull-up dagger with 1.7 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Davidson Wildcats past Loyola Chicago, 57-55, on Wednesday night. The win improves the 'Cats to 12-11 overall and 5-4 in conference play, while the Ramblers dropped their 10th straight Atlantic 10 contest. In the final frame, the Ramblers shot 53.3 percent from the floor and rattled off a 10-0 run over a three-minute span to tie the contest at 55-all, before Deegan's heroics put the 'Cats in front at the buzzer.

ABOUT THE SPIDERS... The Spiders are coming off a key, 67-51 A-10 victory over La Salle on Wednesday. In the contest, the Spiders shot 29-of-59 (49.2%) from the field and recorded 46 rebounds in the win. Across the league, Richmond currently ranks third in field-goal percentage defense (36.8%), second in field-goal percentage (43.7%), second in defensive rebounds per game (29.1 and fourth in three pointers per game (8.1).

AROUND THE HORN... With five games left in the regular season, and a 5-4 A-10 record, the 'Cats currently sit in fifth place behind George Washington, Fordham, UMass and top-seeded Rhode Island, respectively. Davidson has three of the top four teams left to play this season, while the Spiders sit in 10th place with a 4-5 conference ledger.
