17 Wildcats Earn Postseason Recognition
DAVIDSON, N.C. – In addition to Beck Kipperman, Jonathan Hammond and Julian Rawlins earning 2023 All-Pioneer Football first-team honors, Davidson placed four players on the second team, while 10 others earned honorable mention recognition, as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.
Mari Adams, Gilbert Deglau, Malik McDaniel and Daniel Carter represented the Wildcats on the second team.
For Kipperman, this marks the third time he has earned all-league honors as the senior was a second-team selection each of the last two seasons. A native of Round Rock, Texas, the offensive lineman started every game, helping Davidson to the nation's top rushing offense for the fourth straight year.
No stranger to postseason honors, Hammond received his fourth (1st Team – 2021, 2023 | 2nd Team – 2020, 2022) all-conference recognition. Named Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2020-21, the captain will conclude his standout career ranked among the program's all-time leaders in sacks and tackles for loss.
An honorable mention selection a year ago, Rawlins finished his junior campaign with 10.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks, which were both second best in the conference. The defensive lineman also recorded 44 tackles, 3 pass deflections and a forced fumble.
Adams, just the ninth player in program history to rush for 1,000 yards in a season, led the conference in rushing touchdowns with 15, while ranking among PFL leaders in rushing yards (1,019 / 3rd), yards per rush (6.21 / 4th) and yards per game (92.6 / 3rd). In addition to five 100-yard games, the sophomore finished with four multiple-touchdown games.
Like Kipperman, Deglau and McDaniel anchored an offensive line that helped produce 309.2 rushing yards per game and allowed just 14 sacks in 11 contests. This is Delgau's second all-conference nod and the first for McDaniel, who started every game for the 'Cats.
A junior safety from nearby Denver, N.C., Carter led Davidson's defense with 70 tackles and three interceptions. An honorable mention selection in 2022, each of his picks came in league play, including two in the Wildcats' win at Stetson.
Davidson's Tristan Allen (P), Christian Berry (TE), Coulter Cleland (QB), Kyler Herring (OL), Darryn Kindles (DL), Aaron Maione (Slot/AP), Brody Reina (WR), Cam'ron Willis (LB), Mason Sheron (RB) and Adam Zouagui (K) were all selected honorable mention.
The PFL's All-Academic Teams will be released Wednesday afternoon.
