Wildcats Defeat Saint Joseph's Saturday

DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Davidson College men's soccer team defeated Saint Joseph's 2-0 at Alumni Stadium Saturday to earn its seventh shutout of the season.
The win improved the Wildcats to 9-2-1 overall and 5-1-0 in the Atlantic 10, while the Hawks fell to 3-10-1 overall and 1-4-1.
The 'Cats controlled the pace of play over the entirety of the match as they out-shot the Hawks 15-8 overall, while Saint Joseph's landed six shots on goal compared the Davidson's four.
Davidson broke through in the 16th minute when Luke Bryant played a ball to the foot of Denis Krioutchenkov, who lasered a shot past Hawks goalie Trevor Jackson, putting the 'Cats up 1-0.
The one-goal advantage proved enough for Davidson at the time being as the Wildcats carried the edge into halftime.
Coming out of the break, the two squads traded shots for the opening portion of the second half with neither team being able to find the back of the net.
With under 10 minutes remaining in the contest, a Hawks foul allowed Jack Brown to serve a pass to the head of Vincent Bennage, who tacked on an insurance goal.
For the game, both Bennage and Krioutchenkov netted their sixth goals of the season to remain the Wildcats' scoring leaders. The duo took four and three shots, respectively.
Aiding in the offense was Ayman Maadir and Nico Quanbeck, who each placed one shot on target.
Brown, a sophomore, came off the bench to pick up his first point of the season.
In another dominant performance in-goal, Lou Liedtka matched a season-high of six saves while claiming his seventh shutout of the year.
