Wildcats to Host Wofford Thursday Night
8/30/2022 3:51:00 PM | Women's Soccer
Unbeaten through four games, the Davidson women's soccer team looks to continue its early-season success Thursday when it hosts Wofford at 7 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
It's the third straight home game for the Wildcats, who are 3-0-1 and off to their best four-game start since 2008 thanks to Sunday's 1-0 win over Furman.
"The season so far has gone well," said coach Adam Denton. "The team has grown in each of the games and responded well to the different challenges we've faced within each game. That's something that's going to be really important as we go through the season. It's still really early, but the players have responded well, and we're looking forward to the opportunities this weekend."
Thursday's home game will be part of a doubleheader, as the Davidson men will host Campbell at 4:30 p.m.
THE 'CATS
Riley Patton scored in the 29th minute Sunday and the Davidson defense recorded its second straight shutout in the 1-0 win over Furman.
It was the Wildcats' first win over the Paladins since 2009, and Patton's second goal of the year tied her for the team lead with Brooke Ditcham.
Ditcham scored both goals in the Aug. 25 win over Gardner-Webb and earned Atlantic 10 Offensive Co-Player of the Week honors Monday.
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
Wofford is 2-1-1 after wins over Kennesaw State and Longwood, a tie with UNC Asheville and, most recently, a 3-0 loss at Radford.
Ashley Grant leads the Terriers with two goals and eight shots-on-goal.
It's Davidson's first match with Wofford since 2016.
