Wildcats Open Home Slate Against Gardner-Webb Thursday
8/23/2022 12:06:00 PM | Women's Soccer
After two road games to open the 2022 campaign, the Davidson women's soccer team will host Gardner-Webb Thursday night in its home opener.
The Wildcats welcome the Runnin' Bulldogs at 7 p.m. at Alumni Stadium, which starts a stretch of three home games.
"We're looking forward to playing our next few games at Alumni Stadium," said coach Adam Denton. "We're looking to build on two solid performances away from home and look to have some positive performances to continue our growth as we continue competition in the non-conference season."
Davidson is 1-0-1 after a season-opening 1-1 tie at USC-Upstate and a 2-1 win at Presbyterian. Riley Patton, Charlotte Snead and Lilly Lovell have scored the Wildcat goals, with Lovell's serving as the game-winner at Presbyterian.
After Thursday, the Wildcats will host Furman at 2 p.m. Sunday — that will be Senior Day for 12 Wildcats — and Wofford Sept. 1. In all, the Wildcats play six of their next seven at home.
SCOUTING GARDNER-WEBB
The Runnin' Bulldogs enter 1-0-1 after a season-opening 2-2 tie against East Tennessee State and a 2-1 win over Alabama State on Sunday.
Maddie Turlington scored both goals, including the go-ahead penalty kick, in Sunday's win.
A year ago, the Wildcats earned a season-opening 3-1 win over Gardner-Webb, behind two goals from then-freshman Aleia Gisolfi-McCready and one from Patton.
