Davidson's Depth Shines in 18-7 Victory Against La Salle

PHILADELPHIA -- Davidson senior Gianna New scored a game-high four goals, while nine other Wildcats found the back of the net during an 18-7 Atlantic 10 win over La Salle on Sunday.
With a pair of goals from senior Emma Johnson and scores from New and Jane DiGregorio, the 'Cats immediately took hold of a 5-2 lead just 12 minutes into the road game. By the end of the first quarter, Davidson extended its advantage to 8-3 thanks to production from Julianne Carey and Lauren Arkell, and another strike from New.
After a 5-0 run in the second quarter, the Wildcats pulled away to 13-3 score and held onto their lead and a running clock for the remainder of the second half.
While only allowing four goals over the final 30 minutes of work, goalkeeper Amanda Monahan earned her eighth win of the season, making eight saves, while the 'Cats saw goals from Page Wolfenden, Lauren Garcia and Riley Redpath before time expired.
Overall, Davidson out shot La Salle 32-22 while the Wildcat defense held the Explorers to just eight successful clears.

The 'Cats will be back in action next weekend for a pair of games at home on Friday and Sunday against Duquesne and St.Bonaventure.
