Wildcats Head to Wilmington for A-10 Championship Tournament

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson women's basketball team has hit the road for Wilmington, Del. for the 2022 Atlantic 10 women's basketball Championship Tournament, set to tip off the action in the second round on Thursday, March 3.
The 'Cats are set to meet the Richmond Spiders on ESPN+ from inside the CHASE Fieldhouse tomorrow morning at 11 a.m.

THE TOURNEY... In its fifth season under Head Coach Gayle Fulks, Davidson enters the Atlantic 10 Tournament as the #9 seed, set to take on #8 Richmond. In 2018, Richmond and Davidson met in the first round of the A-10 Championship, on the campus of the University of Richmond, as the Spiders were then the No. 8 seed, and the 'Cats were also ninth.
'CATS IN MARCH... For the last three seasons, the Wildcats have won their opening game of the A-10 Championship, before losing in the quarterfinals during the 2019 and 2020 tournaments and the second round of the 2021 tourney. In 2019, the 'Cats entered the postseason as the No. 5 seed, their highest seed to date since joining the league.
THE ROOKIE... Freshman Issy Morgan has made an immediate impact on the Atlantic 10 Conference, as she was named to the All-Rookie team on Tuesday. The Australia native earned three Rookie of the Week honors this season and ranks 8th in the league in three-point field goal percentage (38.1%).
PROTECT THIS HOUSE... The 'Cats ended the home season 7-6 on McKillop Court, their fourth consecutive winning season at home.
NON-CON SUCCESS... The Wildcats ended their non-conference slate at 9-3 overall, their best record outside of league play since the 2006-07 season.

- Davidson won the last meeting against Richmond, 77-71, from inside the Robins Center. In the match-up, Elle Sutphin dropped a career-high 32 points and Chloe Welch added 23. The duo combined for a 20-35 (57.1%) effort from the floor.
- Davidson and Richmond have met twice before in the A-10 Tournament, as the Spiders won both postseason match-ups: 70-51 in 2016 and 62-53 in 2018.
- A win over the Spiders would mark the fourth straight season where the Wildcats have advanced past their opening day of the A-10 tournament.
