'Cats Sweep Weekend Matches, Defeat West Virginia State, 6-1

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Davidson women's tennis closed out a 2-0 weekend with a 6-1 defeat of West Virginia State University on Sunday at the Davidson Tennis Courts. The 'Cats improve to 4-2 on the season.
In singles competition, the 'Cats won five of six matches, all decided in two sets. Josie Schaffer and Franny Shea both took a 6-1, 6-4 victory off the court. In the No. 3 spot, Emma Heiderscheit dominated the first set, 6-1, before sealing her individual win with a 6-3 second set.
Kavya Patel played two 6-1 sets to earn a point for Davidson and Mira Gladstone defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-2.
The 'Cats earned the doubles point after the pairings of Emma Heiderscheit and Franny Shea, and Victoria Anyanwu and Linden Patterson defeated their opponents from WVSU.
UP NEXT
The Wildcats are on the road next weekend, taking on Presbyterian on Saturday, Feb. 26 and Radford on Sunday, Feb. 27.
