Wildcats Host George Mason, Celebrate Senior Day Sunday

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson volleyball program will kick off its final homestand of the season on Friday night, welcoming George Mason into town for a two-match series.
Friday's match will begin at 7 p.m. and Sunday's will start at 1 p.m. with Senior Day celebrations beginning at approximately 12:50 p.m. The 'Cats will honor its four-year veterans Julia Black, Paige Johnson and Anela Davis prior to opening serve. Both matches will air on ESPN+ with Sam Goldfarb '22 on the call.
ABOUT THE PATRIOTS... George Mason is currently 3-11 in league play and 7-18 overall. The Patriots are led by Olyvia Kennedy, who averages a team-high 2.58 kills per set and swings at a .230 attacking percentage.
AROUND THE HORN... Heading into the final four regular season matches, Davidson is currently two games out of first place with a 12-2 Atlantic 10 record behind Loyola Chicago's perfect 14-0 ledger. The 'Cats will meet the Ramblers next week for the season finale, in Chicago, as the two teams could be battling head-to-head for the regular season title. The Ramblers meet Dayton this weekend, and one or two losses to the Flyers in addition to a 2-0 weekend for the 'Cats will open up the door and set up next weekend as a fight for the trophy.
DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS... Anela Davis and Bella Brady's defense anchors the 2022 Wildcats, as Davis leads the Atlantic 10 with 1.52 blocks per set and Brady leads the liberos of the league with 5.19 digs per set. Nationally, Davis' average ranks ninth highest in the country while also ranking sixth with 134 total blocks. Brady also stacks up against the nation's best, as she's 16th in the country in digs per set and 24th in total digs (457).
