
‘Cats Fall at St. Thomas

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Davidson suffered a 27-16 setback to St. Thomas in Pioneer Football League action Saturday afternoon inside O'Shaughnessy Stadium.
The Wildcats fall to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in league play, while the Tommies improve to 4-1 and 2-0 with their 24th straight home win.
Despite the loss, Davidson out-gained St. Thomas 328 to 252, which included 235 yards on the ground for the 'Cats.
Coy Williams paced the Wildcats' offense with 74 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown, while Clarence Freeman IV had three catches for 55 yards.
Mark McCurdy also found the end zone for Davidson late in the contest with a seven-yard grab.
The Tommies, who jumped out to a 21-0 advantage late in the second quarter, were led by quarterback Cade Sexauer, who finished with 136 yards in the air, 45 more on the ground and threw for three scores. Two of his touchdown tosses were to Andrew McElroy.
Defensively, Daniel Carter had a team-high seven tackles for Davidson.
