DAVIDSON, N.C. – After an eight-day break, Davidson returns to Alumni Stadium and 1992 Team Field Monday evening for a 7 p.m. kick-off with North Carolina.
The Wildcats, who climbed into the Top-25 last week for the first time in seven years, enters 2-0-0 on the young campaign following wins over High Point (8/26) and Campbell (8/29) to begin the season.
Vincent Bennage and Lucas Hauth lead the Davidson attack with two goals each, while Henry Howell set up goals in both victories, earning him a spot on the TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week.
Anchored by junior goalkeeper Giacomo Piccardo and sophomore defender Trey Gardiner, Davidson allowed just two goals last week to teams that combined to score 69 goals in the spring.
Ranked as high as fifth in the polls, the Tar Heels come in 2-0-1 after a win over Georgia Southern Friday evening.
North Carolina finished the 2020-21 season 9-5-4 overall, falling to eventual National Champion Marshall, 1-0, in the College Cup semifinals.
The last time the Wildcats and Tar Heels met on the pitch, they battled to a scoreless draw Sept. 17, 2019 in Chapel Hill.
