Women's Soccer to Visit Fordham, Host Duquesne
9/29/2021 4:48:00 PM | Women's Soccer
The completion of a road stretch and the start of a homestand marks the weekend for the Davidson women's soccer team.
The Wildcats (4-6-1) visit Fordham Thursday at 7 p.m. to wrap up a stretch of six of seven away from home, then will host Duquesne at 2 p.m. Sunday to start a three-game homestand. In all, the Wildcats will play four of their next five at Alumni Stadium, with all coming against Atlantic 10 Conference foes.
"We're looking forward to the next two opportunities, against another two tough opponents," said coach Adam Denton. "They're different teams and will provide different, tough challenges."
The Wildcats are off to an 0-3-0 start in league play, but Denton is encouraged by what he's seen from his team in terms of effort, teamwork and perseverance.
"They're continuing to work on their training and taking the information we're giving them as they continue to work toward not just positive performances but positive results in the A-10," he said. "We've done well at practice and in those games. It's just a few moments we have to manage so we can come out on the other side with a positive result."
SCOUTING THE RAMS, DUKES
Fordham enters Thursday's contest also looking for its first A-10 win. The Rams are 2-7-2 overall and 0-2-1 in league play. Caitlin Kennedy ranks second in the A-10 with five goals, and her 11 points are one off the league lead.
Duquesne hosts Richmond Thursday and enters that match 3-5-1 and 1-2 in the A-10. The Dukes feature Emma Bundy, who is tied for the A-10 lead with 12 points off of five goals and two assists.
BREAST CANCER AWARENESS GAME
Sunday's home game with Duquesne will be played in honor of breast cancer awareness. Fans are encouraged to wear pink, and the first 150 fans will receive pink Davidson scrunchies.
