Wildcats Take Double Overtime Defeat at Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio — The Davidson defense withstood more than 105 minutes Sunday afternoon, but Dayton finally broke through in the second overtime to earn a 1-0 win in women's soccer.
Dayton's Marlee Taylor scored at the 105:38 mark to drop the Wildcats to 4-6-1 overall and 0-3-0 in the Atlantic 10. Her shot was lofted high and just over the outstretched arms of Davidson keeper Mary Grace Bunch, who answered the call against 15 shots and seven shots-on-goal to that point.
Early in the second half, Bunch denied a Taylor shot and an immediate follow-up by Jessica Sheldon, with defender Sam Cascio stepping in to clear the ball for good and keep the game scoreless.
Sophia Caruso provided the Wildcats' best scoring opportunity of the day in the second minute. Her low-left shot was saved by Madelyn Dewey.

The Wildcats will visit A-10 foe Fordham Thursday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m., which will complete a stretch of six of seven away from Alumni Stadium.
