BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Playing its second straight against one of the Big South's preseason favorites, Davidson cruised to a 3-1 victory over Campbell in non-conference men's soccer action Sunday evening at the Eakes Athletics Complex.
The Wildcats, who handed the Camels just their second loss at home in the last 22 matches, improve to 2-0-0 for the first time since 2017.
After being whistled offsides on a pair of counter attempts, Davidson made the most of its first shot as Luke Bryant connected with fellow sophomore Connor Smith for a header from just in front.
Just prior to the half, Jack Wilson could not have picked a better time for his first career goal as the senior defender carried the ball from midfield and beat three Camels down the near side and went top shelf with a right-footed blast.
In the 59th minute, Henry Howell set up freshman Vincent Bennage's second goal on the young season to put the game out of reach.
Both teams finished with four shots on frame, while Giacomo Piccardo recorded a game-high three saves for the 'Cats.
Campbell (1-1-0), which knocked off No. 30 UNCG in its opener, broke through with just under 20 minutes to play with a goal from Daniel Hernandez.
