Davidson's Season Ends in Loss to Spiders

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Davidson Wildcats concluded their season on Thursday night, falling 4-0 to the Richmond Spiders in the quarterfinal round of the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championships.
Despite losing the doubles point, court three's duo of Mira Gladstone and Victoria Anyanwu defeated Richmond's Haynes and Buendia, for their second consecutive doubles team win. Overall on the year, Anyanwu and Gladstone finished 5-1 as a doubles unit.
After falling behind 1-0 early, Richmond went on to sweep singles victories from courts two, three and six to win the day. However, sophomore starter Josie Schaffer was in a battle on court one, having won the first 6-4 and was heading into a defining third set before the match was clinched by the Spiders.
The 'Cats conclude their 2021 spring campaign with a 6-15 record overall, and will return to the courts next fall to compete on the Davidson Tennis Courts.
