Men's T&F Complete Final Tune-Up for A-10's at the Charlotte Invite

CHARLOTTE – The men's track and field team wrapped up their final tune-up for the Atlantic 10 Championship at the Charlotte Invitational Friday and Saturday at Irwin Belk Track.

The Wildcats had three top-eight finishes in the 400-meter hurdles. Junior Cory Gaither leaned across the line in third, stopping the clock at 53.98 seconds, just ahead of freshman Isaac Bynum in 54.58. Sophomore Bryce Anthony placed eighth in 55.62 seconds.
 
In the triple jump pit, sophomore Dylan Ameres marked the second-best attempt of the day, stretching the tape 13.41-meters (44'0). Senior Langston Stephens took fourth with a mark of 12.97-meters (42'6.75).
 
In the throwing circle, sophomore Dylan Lageman stretched the tape 14.04-meters (46'0.75) in the shot put. Freshman Jack Stajos placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 43.71-meters (143'5).

Friday's Headlines
Wildcat senior Daniel Alvarez-Orlachia led a strong field across the line in the 800-meter run. Alvarez-Orlachia snapped the tape with a season-best performance of 1:51.23, just ahead of sophomore teammate Owen Drometer in 1:51.76, a new personal best time. Junior Raphael Oettl (1:53.81) and sophomore Miles Kominsky (1:55.24) placed sixth and ninth, respectively.
 
Davidson's duo in the 1500-meters each ran new personal bests. Sophomore Joe dosvReis cut down over five seconds, stopping the clock at 3:50.92 for third. Classmate Ben Gordon Sniffen was the next across the line in 3:52.28.
 
Freshman Isaac Bynum took third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.88 seconds. 
 
In the cage, junior Paul Mullinax continued his consistency in the hammer throw, marking a toss of 45.78-meters (150'2).
 
Davidson opens day one of the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship Saturday, May 1 at George Mason. No fans will be permitted entry in the facility during the championship.
