Records Continued to Fall for Women's T&F at the Vertklasse Meeting

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The women's track and field team continued to break records and lower times Friday on the final day of the Vertklasse Meeting at Dick Vert Stadium.
 
For the second consecutive meet junior Anna Davis reset the 400-meter hurdle record. Davis leaned across the line in 1:01.25 and placed second overall. Just last week at the Raleigh Relays she broke a 20-year-old mark with a time of 1:01.94.
 
Continuing to improve on her hammer throw, sophomore Caroline Djakuduel extended her program record out to 35.79-meters (117'5). She also added distance to her discus throws, stretching the tape 35.39-meters (116'1).
 
Freshman Chloe Davis also improved in the 400 hurdles from last week, stopping the clock at 1:03.91 Friday and taking fourth overall.
 
In the 100-meter hurdles, sophomore Hannah Kanjian lowered her personal best to 14.98 seconds and placed 10th.
 
Senior Grace Loehr posted a personal best performance and a top-three performance on the day in the 400-meter run, winning her heat with a time of 57.34 seconds. Sophomore Rachel Horowitz took eighth in 58.48 seconds.
 
Wildcat sophomore Kelsey Troutman added to Friday's PR's with a 2:19.59 run in the 800-meters.
 
Three sprinters recorded top-10 results in the 100-meter dash led by sophomore Kate Carnevale in seventh. Classmate Cassandra leaned across in eighth, while junior Marquia Humphries took 10th. Humprhies also was fifth in the 200-meter dash with Horowitz eighth and freshman Kierra Marshall 10th.
 
The Davidson 4x100-meter relay won their section and took second overall with a time of 48.26 seconds.
 
Davidson returns to the track Sunday, Apr. 11 at the Mason Spring Invite.
