Men's T&F made their mark at the Mason Spring Invite

FAIRFAX, Va. – The men's track and field team overcame a lengthy weather delay and posted some strong performances Sunday at the Mason Spring Invitational.
Davidson junior Paul Mullinax broke a 33-year-old record in the hammer throw, stretching the tape 46.83 meters (153'8). Sophomore Dylan Lageman (38.50m) and freshman Jack Stajos (37.81m) moved into the top10 all-time with strong performances from the cage.
Wildcat sophomore Owen Drometer claimed the win in the 1500-meter run, stopping the clock at 3:48.77. Classmate Joe dosReis was second in his section with a time of 3:55.97.
The sprinters added three newcomers to the 100-meter dash top 10 performers list. Sophomore Nick Tompkins led the trio with a time of 11.00 seconds, while freshman Chinedu Okeke (11.07 seconds) and junior Cameron Clark (11.21) also jumped onto the list.
Freshman Josh Hardin took second in the 400-meter run and fifth in the 200-meter dash. Hardin stopped the clock at 48.81 seconds and 21.94 seconds, respectively. Tompkins took seventh in 22.16 seconds, while Clark leaned across the line in 22.47 seconds, further disrupting the sprinting top performers.
Before the weather arrived, junior Raphael Oettl stopped the clock at 1:53.18 in the 800-meters.
On the runway, sophomore Dylan Ameres took fifth, stretching the tape 13.54 meters (44'5.25) on his fifth of sixth attempts. Senior Langston Stephens took seventh, marking an attempt of 12.78 meters.
Davidson returns to the track Saturday, Apr. 17 at the USC Open hosted by the University of South Carolina.
