DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson scored three second-half goals, including a pair from junior Lucas Hauth as the Wildcats rallied past their former league rival Wofford, 3-2, Saturday evening at Alumni Stadium.
With the win, the 'Cats move to 1-2-0 overall, while the Terriers remain winless falling to 0-3-0.
Hauth, who now has three multiple-goal efforts in his career, netted the eventual game-winner with 17:27 left when he took a Hugh Chatham centering pass, beat a Terrier defender and found the top left corner.
Wofford put the first goal on the board with a penalty kick from Adrian Roseth at the 15:52 mark.
In the 51st minute, Hauth provided the equalizer when he deked the keeper setting up an open net for his then-eighth career goal.
Brandon Oddy put the Terriers back in front minutes later following a miscue by the Davidson backline.
The Wildcats had an attempt from the penalty spot of their own midway through the second half, but Jamie DiLuzio was unable to convert and Emil Larsen made a diving save on the rebound as well.
Davidson evened the score again with Connor Smith's first career goal off a long cross from fellow freshman Adam Luckhurst in the 65th minute.
The Wildcats, who put 11 shots on frame, finished with a 16-13 edge in shots.
Larsen led both keepers with 8 saves, while Giacomo Piccardo stopped 5 shots to pick up his first win in goal for the Wildcats.
