
Times Drop and a Record Falls As Women's T&F Returns to Action

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sophomore Hannah Kanjian capped off an impressive first weekend back on the track, winning the heptathlon in school record fashion Saturday at the Charlotte 49er Classic.
Kanjian put up nearly 3000 points in Friday's opening four events and cruised Saturday with impressive results in the long jump, javelin and 800-meter run. She took the top two in points of all competitors in six events over the course of the meet, earning an impressive 848 points in the 100-meter hurdles. Junior Hazel Tankard was third with 4100 points.
Wildcat junior Bianca Nolde-Lopez snapped the tape in the 400-meter run, just ahead of classmate Marquia Humphries. Nolde-Lopez stopped the clock at 55.93 seconds, Humphries at 58.02. In the 200-meter dash, Nolde-Lopez took third with teammates Kate Carnevale and Humphries in third and fourth.
The 2020 Atlantic 10 Indoor 1000-meter champion, senior Eleni Daughters, placed second in the 1500-meter run. The Pasadena, Calif., native stopped the clock at 4:42.86, while sophomore Breila Fuller took seventh in 4:50.45.
Three 'Cats were in the top-five of the 800-meter run led by senior Grace Loehr in 2:16.90. Sophomore's Liz Simms and Kelsey Troutman ran well in fourth and fifth overall.
Junior Anna Davis lowered her time in the 100-meter hurdles, stopping the clock in14.97 seconds, good for fourth. Classmate Meghan Corso also set a personal best in 15.26 seconds. Davis also took second in the 400-meter hurdles with sophomore Chloe Davis in fifth.
In the field, Chloe Davis was fourth in the long, marking a leap of 5.37-meters (17-feet-7.5 inches). In her collegiate debut, Megan Burkholder cleared 3.55-meters (11-feet, 7.75 inches) in the vault to place fourth.
On Friday, sophomore Caroline Djakuduel, in her first outdoor meet for Davidson, became the first ever woman to enter the cage and throw the hammer in competition.
Davidson returns to the track Friday, Mar. 26 on the opening day of the Raleigh Relays.
