Fresh off a win in its Atlantic 10 Conference opener, the Davidson women's soccer team will host Richmond Thursday night in Alumni Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
It's the teams' first meeting since 2018.
"We're coming off a really positive performance against George Mason on Sunday," said head coach Adam Denton. "The group is looking forward to the next challenge of facing Richmond at home. Richmond's a very good team, like all the teams in the A-10. They're athletic, dynamic and have a lot of threats."
The Wildcats enter 3-1-1 after Sunday's 3-1 win over George Mason, the program's first-ever victory against the Patriots. Kendall Bushick scored two goals, while Hailey Braemer had two assists. Hannah Casey's header 4:04 into the match gave the Wildcats the lead they never lost, and Bushick's second goal, off a Katherine Smith assist, put the game away with 4:42 to play.
Richmond, meanwhile, is 0-1 following a 1-0 double-overtime loss to George Washington on Sunday. After 104 minutes of play, the Colonials emerged with a Natalie Silberman goal.
The Wildcats and Spiders join George Mason, George Washington and VCU in the A-10 South this season, with each team meeting the others twice in an eight-game slate.
"We have a very strong pod, with those five teams," said Denton. "We know every game is going to be a battle and pose different challenges. Our players are looking forward to this challenge."
Richmond won the teams' last meeting, earning a 2-1 victory on Oct. 21, 2018.
