Stanley Wins to Lead the Wildcats on Day 2

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Shelby Stanley won the 100 butterfly Saturday to lead the Davidson swimming and diving teams' performance at the second day of the Bucknell Invitational.
Stanley, last year's Atlantic 10 Performer of the Year, swam out front with a time of 54.07.
It was the second event win of the meet for the Wildcats, who won the 200 free relay Friday night. Stanley was a part of that one as well, joining Abby Francis, Martha Tripsa and Chalé Jacks in a winning time of 1:32.98.
On Saturday, Stanley, Francis, Jacks and Julia Goodhead swam to third in the 200 medley relay (1:42.81), while Siena Senn placed third in the 200 free (1:50.87). Other A finalists for the Wildcat women were Rani Greer in the 100 breast (7th, 1:04.24), Goodhead in the 100 back (7th, 56.71) and Francis in the 200 free (8th, 1:55.83). The 800 free relay of Senn, Kate Pottle, Sylvia Stewart-Bates and Stanley placed sixth (7:37.18).
Fourth-place finishes by Charlie Walsh and Cael McLaren led the Wildcat men. Walsh touched the wall fourth in the 400 IM (4:05.64), while McLaren was fourth in the 100 breast (56.38). The Wildcats' 800 free relay of Ian Brann, Ty McLaren, Jared Herr and Ben McClain also placed fourth (6:52.10).
McClain (200 free, 1:40.64) finished fifth, as did the 200 medley relay of Thomas Broderick, Cael McLaren, Miles Charles and Brann (1:31.70). That Wildcat quartet had more Wildcats on their heels, as the team of Jeremy Kemp, Andrew Schou, Kostas Mateer and McClain placed sixth (1:31.96).
The 800 free relay of Broderick, Mateer, Tommy Cromie and Guil Ware added sixth-place points (6:54.58), and Owen Curry was seventh in the 400 IM (4:08.95).
After two days of competition, Towson leads the men's and women's team standings. Davidson is fifth in both rankings.

Sunday marks the final day of competition. Prelims are set for 10 a.m., with finals at 5 p.m.
