LEWISBURG, Pa. — Wins in the women's 400 freestyle relay and men's diving capped Davidson's third and final day at the Bucknell Invitational.
In all, the Wildcats won four events during the seven-team meet as the men finished third in the team standings and the women took fifth.
"I'm pleased with what we saw this weekend," said Davidson coach John Young. "It's a long trip that packs more racing into three days than we've seen in a while. The 'Cats handled it well, raced hard and gave us a good sense of what we can work on to be better in February."
Sunday, it was the 400 free relay team of Julia Goodhead, Shelby Stanley, Siena Senn and Abby Francis that took first-place in a time of 3:24.96. And diver Ben Cutforth won the 3-meter competition with 283.25 points, after earning the second seed during prelims.
The Wildcats had a number of other top-three finishes as well, including Abby Francis in the 100 free (2nd, 20.59), Thomas Broderick in the 200 back (2nd, 1:48.64), Shelby Stanley in the 200 fly (3rd, 2:02.51) and Kostas Mateer in the 200 breast (3rd, 2:05.24). The 400 free relay of Ben McClain, Ty McLaren, Guil Ware and Ian Brann also took third (3:03.66).
The Davidson men had multiple A finalists in multiple events, as Owen Corkery (4th, 1:49.97) and Jeremy Kemp (7th, 1:50.86) swam with Broderick in the 200 back. McClain led a 4-5-6 Wildcats' finish in the 200 fly with a time of 1:51.08, as Miles Charles and Tommy Cromie came next with times of 1:51.47 and 1:52.47, respectively. Drew Sheldon took seventh in diving (225.85), and the 400 free relay of Broderick, Kemp, Charles and Mateer took eighth (3:05.97).
Additionally, Owen Curry took fifth in the 1,650 free (16:15.22), and McClain was sixth in the 100 free (45.88).
