Davidson Hosts West Virginia for Friday Dual

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson wrestling is set to host Big 12 foe West Virginia in a home dual on Friday, Nov. 19 at 7 pm inside Belk Arena. The Wildcats (0-3) are looking to secure their first win of the season over the Mountaineers (0-1) in their second consecutive home meet.

ABOUT DAVIDSON
After two bouts on the 2021-22 schedule, sophomore Bryce Sanderlin leads the team with six victories after securing his most recent two at the Quad Meet. Senior Kyle Gorant's five wins put him second on the team, after having his hand raised twice last weekend against his opponents from Chattanooga and Clarion. Wildcat heavyweights senior Mitchell Trigg and sophomore Jake Fernicola both have four wins apiece, with Fernicola going undefeated at the Southeast Open. He dropped his one match to his opponent from Rutgers.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
West Virginia wrestling team fell to No. 17 Oklahoma by a final score of 28-10 last week. Sophomore Peyton Hall halted a Sooner 20-0 run with a 10-1 major decision over his opponent at 165 pounds. Redshirt sophomores Anthony Carman and Michael Wolfgram also earned their first dual victories of the season. The Mountaineers finished in second place at the Clarion Open at the beginning of their 2021-22 slate. Head coach Tim Flynn is in his fourth season at the helm of the program.

The Wildcats head to The Wildcats head to the Patriot Open hosted by George Mason in Fairfax, Va. on Sunday, Dec. 5. First round is slated to start at 9 am.
