Davidson Improves to 4-0 in League after Win at Butler, 49-35

The Wildcats improve to 5-1 overall and stay undefeated in PFL play, while the Bulldogs fall to 2-6 and 0-5 on the season.
Davidson put forth a balanced scoring effort with five different Wildcats recording a touchdown, but it was a back-and-forth affair between the two teams throughout the first half.
Butler scored on its opening 20-play, 66-yard drive that lasted over nine minutes to take a 7-0 lead. However, Davidson responded 45 seconds later when Aris Hilliard broke away for a 59-yard scamper to quickly even the score.
The Bulldogs followed in similar fashion with a 53-yard score of their own to take a 14-7 advantage after the first quarter. But Davidson answered yet again, this time with a touchdown from Bradyn Oakley.
Not long after the Wildcats took their first lead of the day off Coy Williams' 10th touchdown of the season, Butler deadlocked the game at 21-21 with 1:06 remaining in the half. Davidson wouldn't go into the locker room tied, though, thanks to slot Mark McCurdy's 35-yard touchdown, putting the 'Cats up, 28-21, and for good.
Hilliard recorded his second touchdown of the day and Oakley followed with his second, pushing the Davidson lead to 42-21. Eli Turner Jr. scored the Wildcats' final touchdown of the day.
Butler scored twice in the fourth quarter, but Davidson kept the Bulldogs at bay.
Davidson quarterback Louis Colosimo completed seven of 10 attempts for 183 yards and two touchdowns. Seniors Dreylan Hines and Jake Alexander led the way for the Wildcat defense with six tackles apiece. Sophomore Jonathan Hammond added two more sacks, giving him eight so far this season.
In all, the 'Cats rushed for 363 yards en route to 546 total yards of offense.
