Barrett Announces Incoming Class for 2020-21 Tennis Season

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Head coach Drew Barrett announced today his most recent recruiting class that will join the Davidson men's tennis team this coming Fall and Spring for the 2020-21 season.
"I am really excited about the recruiting class this year," said head coach Drew Barrett, who will be entering his 15th season at the helm of the program. "All three of these young men will be great additions to our program. Not only are they great athletes, but great individuals and will help us in our goal to battle for a conference championship."
Joining the Class of 2024 as incoming freshmen will be: Maxwell Kachkarov (Queens, N.Y.), Alejandro Solares (Guatemala City, Guatemala) and Jerry Wang (Fayetteville, N.C.).

Maxell Kachkarov
Hometown: Queens, N.Y.
High School: Benjamin N. Cardozo
Prep and personal: Ranked in the top-5 of New York boys 18's … National L3 champion … Gold Ball boys 16's Indoor doubles … had a 20-1 record as a junior … Honor Roll … National Junior Honors Society.
Alejandro Solares
Hometown: Guatemala City, Guatemala
High School: Colegio Maya
Prep and personal: Two-time Junior Davis Cup regional champion … No. 1 junior tennis player from Bolivia … career high ITF World Tour Junior ranking was No. 292 … earned one ITF singles title and one ITF doubles title, reaching the final four times … earned President's Award three times … picked up fourth place finish at the Science Fair … Science Fair Physics division runner-up … National Honor Society officer … AP Scholar Award with Honor by the college board … played junior Davis Cup for Guatemala after moving there at the age of 10.
Jerry Wang
Hometown: Fayetteville, N.C.
High School: North Carolina Cyber Academy
Prep and personal: High as 15th in the 18's Southern Section rankings … National Level II doubles winner in 2017 … in 2015 was the Southern Closed Doubles winner, National Doubles Bronze Ball winner and the winter National Doubles Bronze Ball winner … also was an Intersectional Team Championship winner … carried a GPA over 4.0.
