Davidson associate head coach Matt McKillop has been selected one of the nation's Top-50 impactful mid-major assistant basketball coaches, as announced earlier this week by Silver Waves Media.
To be considered for this list, assistants must not have been a head coach at the NCAA Division I level before and must be a coach within one of the following 13 conferences – American, Atlantic 10, West Coast, MAC, Mountain West, Missouri Valley, Colonial, Southern, Sun Belt, Ivy League, Conference USA, Summit and MAAC.
In 12 seasons on the Wildcat bench, McKillop has helped Davidson compile 254 wins and a 156-60 (.722) record in conference play.
In addition to the program's first-ever NCAA at-large selection following the 2015 Atlantic 10 regular season title, the Wildcats have advanced to postseason play nine times (4 – NCAA, 4 – NIT, 1 – CBI) during McKillop's tenure, including in 2018 after winning the A-10 tournament crown.
McKillop has played a major role on the recruiting trail, most notably his Ohio connections, which helped the Wildcats land Brian Sullivan '16, Peyton Aldridge '18 and Jack Gibbs '17.
Aldridge, the 2018 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, and Gibbs, currently rank third and fourth, respectively, on Davidson's all-time scoring list behind Stephen Curry and John Gerdy.
