Davidson Set to Take on No. 2 Seed VCU Friday in Quarters

DAVIDSON, N.C. — For the second year in a row, Davidson advances to the quarterfinals where it will taken on No. 2 seed VCU Friday at 4:30 p.m. inside UD Arena in Dayton, Ohio, for the Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship.
The Wildcats (16-14), who are the seventh seed, scored a 67-63 first-round win Tuesday against 10th-seeded La Salle and are seeking to avenge a defeat during the regular season finale against the Rams.
VCU (18-11) earned the No. 2 seed after going 13-3 in league play and earned the bye to the quarterfinals.

•Junior Katie Turner matched her season high with six three-pointers and Davidson held off 10th-seeded La Salle to earn a 67-63 victory in the first round of the 2020 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship Tuesday.
•Turner, who scored 18 points to go with five assists, four rebounds and three steals, capped off three straight three-balls by the 'Cats with back-to-back deep treys that turned a 52-51 lead into a 61-53 score with 4:47 left in the fourth quarter.
•La Salle would cut the lead to one, 61-60, but a Suzi-Rose Deegan layup and three Sarah Konstans free throws made it 66-60 with 13 ticks left. Deegan sealed the win with a free throw and offensive rebound in final second.
•Deegan and Konstans both scored 15 points and Davidson went 9-for-19 from three-land.
