2019 A-10 CHAMPIONSHIP REWIND
The Wildcats reset five program records at George Mason Field House. Meghan Corso set the 60-meter hurdle mark for the first time with a 9.20 second performance in the prelims. Bianca Nolde-Lopez did the same in her 400-meter preliminary heat, stopping the clock in 57.70 seconds. Makayla Binter recorded 3,365 points to snap the pentathlon record. On the final-day the 'Cats reset both the 4x400-meter and 4x800-meter relays. Caroline Yarbrough '19 placed second in both of her events, Saturday's 5,000-meters and Sunday's 3,000-meter runs.
HITTING THEIR STRIDE
Once again, the Wildcats had a stellar tune-up for the indoor champs while competing at the BU David Hemery Invitational. Junior Eleni Daughters smashed her own 800-meter mark, stopping the clock in 2:08.98. Sophomore Bianca Nolde-Lopez became the first 'Cat under 56 seconds in the 400-meters, racing home in 55.94 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay team of Daughters, Nolde-Lopez, freshman Grace Horowitz and junior Grace Loehr ran the fastest time in program history, 3:48.16. Davidson has recorded four of the six fastest 1600m relay times ever during the 2019-20 campaign.
Other records to fall this winter included freshman Caroline Djakuduel in the weight throw. The rookie stretched the tape 13.24-meters (43'5.25) at JDL Flat is Fast. Sophomore Meghan Corso lowered her 60-meter hurdles record down to 9.16 seconds, while senior Katie Hines did the same in the season-opener of the 60-meters (7.86 seconds). Daughters also broke the 1k record with a time of 2:51.96 at the BU Terrier Classic.
