
'Cats Look to Carry Momentum at Charlotte

LAST TIME OUT... The 'Cats won their second game in as many days, and first on the road, on Friday after clipping App State, 67-64 in the final minutes of play. Davidson trailed for nearly the entire game, before Chloe Welch scored 18 fourth quarter points to put the Wildcats on top.
WELCH'S WAY... Junior guard Chloe Welch has had a breakout start to the season, scoring a team and then career-high 23 points against No. 12 Maryland and Wake Forest in back-to-back games. The Colorado native scored in double figures all five games this season, and set a new career-high 32 points against Appalachian State on Friday. Currently, Welch is shooting 51.2 percent from the floor and ranks 13th in the nation with 43 made field goals this season. Welch's efforts last week earned her the Atlantic 10's Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
HEY MS. CARTER... After playing only nine games as a freshman, Peyton Carter has worked her way into Davidson's lineup, starting the Wildcats' last five games. This season, she is averaging 8.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, and is shooting a team-high 54.8 percent from the field. Carter set a career-high against Florida Gulf Coast, on Nov. 29, scoring 12 points and marked her first performance scoring in double-figures.
ABOUT THE 49ERS... Charlotte is off to a 1-4 start this season, having defeated Campbell last week, 62-42, and playing close games with Wake Forest, UNC and App State earlier this season. Jada McMillian and Octavia Jett-Wilson lead the 49ers, averaging 14.6 and 14.0 points per game, respectively, while Jazmin Harris leads the team in rebounding, averaging 6.8 boards per game.
THE SERIES... Tuesday's match up will be the 30th meeting all-time against the 49ers. The series began on Jan. 19, 1976, when Davidson defeated Charlotte, 56-37, in the Queen City. Charlotte holds the all-time series advantage at 19-10, including winning nine of the last 10 matchups. Last time Davidson defeated Charlotte, in 2017, Katie Turner notched 17 points.
SECOND HALF WARRIORS... In their last four outings, the Wildcats have outscored their opponents by a combined 26 points in the second halves. In each of those halves, the 'Cats drained 12 or more field goals.
RAINING THREE'S... Through five games this season, Davidson currently ranks 20th in the country and first in the Atlantic 10 for made three-pointers, averaging 8.6 per game and draining 43 total.
GOULD AS GOLD... Junior Cassidy Gould has grown into a veteran leadership position this season, as she averages a team-high 33.6 minutes per game. Over the opening five-game stretch, she has averaged 12.6 points per game and is second on the team with 11 made three-pointers. Last week against the Bucs, Gould scored 18 first-half points en route to boasting a career-high 22-point performance. The Australian native ranks 76th in the nation for made three-point field goals and ninth in the Atlantic 10 for three-pointers per game (2.20).
