Clark Claims First M. Tennis A-10 Rookie of the Week Honor

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson's William Clark capped off an excellent debut last Sunday by taking home the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for men's tennis, as announced today by the league office for matches played from Jan. 13-19.
Clark went 2-0 in singles and doubles, helping the Wildcats open the 2020 season with a thrilling 4-3 win at home against Winthrop. The freshman from Alexandria, Va., clinched the match win for the 'Cats by earning the final team point in singles on the afternoon.
Starting in his first collegiate match, Clark first teamed with Sam Kavarana at No. 3 doubles to pick up a 6-3 win for Davidson's lone doubles win.
He then netted his first career singles win with a 6-2, 6-3 decision at No. 6 over Enzo Silveira to seal up the team win.
Clark becomes the seventh Wildcat since Davidson joined the A-10 to bring home the rookie of the week honor.
Davidson hits the road for its first A-10 match Saturday, Jan. 25, at Fordham before closing out the weekend at Sacred Heart on Sunday.
