Women's XC Takes 4th at adidas XC Challenge

CARY, N.C. –The Davidson women's cross country team placed fourth overall at the season opening adidas XC Challenge Friday evening.
A pair of rookie Wildcats paced the squad led by Natalie Abernathy's 21st place result. The Tampa, Fla., native stopped the clock in 18:14.4 for a 5k cross country effort. Next to enter the finishing chute was classmate Kelsey Troutman in 30th, stopping the clock in 18:41.
Sophomore Rachel Shapiro was 32nd before a contingent of three straight Davidson seniors came home in 34th-36th position; Maddie Hunter, Paige McKinney and Susannah Cate.
The Wildcats tallied 105 points to take fourth of nine scoring teams. Host NC State won the meet followed by South Carolina and UNC-Greensboro.
Davidson returns to the trails Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Greater Louisville Classic.
