
Volleyball Earns 3-0 Win over N.C. A&T

ROCK HILL, S.C. — The Davidson volleyball team earned its first win of the season Saturday, defeating North Carolina A&T 3-0 in its finale at the Cristi Curtis Invitational at Winthrop.
The Wildcats are now 1-2 on the season after the 25-22, 25-23 and 25-17 victory.
"It's always great when you can finish on a win," said Davidson coach Chris Willis. "It's great to be in the win column."
Hattie Rodriguez led the way against the Aggies with 11 kills, while Annalyse Kitzberger added 10. Sydney Champaigne and Julia Black had 16 and 11 assists, respectively.
Earlier Saturday, Davidson lost 3-2 to Morehead State, with the Wildcats posting 25-23 wins in the second and fourth sets. Emma McLaughlin led the way with 10 kills, while Madeline Wynn added eight and Ellie Crosley seven. Champaigne had 36 assists, and Elise Edman and Josie Treadwell had 16 digs.
Crosley was named to the all-tournament team after totaling 17 kills in two matches.
"I thought this weekend really showed that we can battle back from adversity," said Willis. "The next step is not putting ourselves in adversity and being able to finish matches."

Davidson returns to action Sept. 7-8 at the Liberty Invitational in Lynchburg, Va., where the Wildcats will face Virginia Tech, Elon and host Liberty.
