Men's Track & Field Heads to A-10 Outdoor Championship

AMHERST, Mass. – The Davidson men's track and field team sets their sites on the 2019 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5 at the UMass Track & Field Complex on the campus of the University of Massachusetts.

SEASON REWIND
- The Davidson team of senior Dylan Carmack and freshmen Raphael Oettl, Max Pearson and Colin Ross shattered the 4x1500-meter relay mark at the Raleigh Relays, stopping the clock in 15:58.66, just under 14 seconds faster than former program best set in 2014.
- Sophomore Daniel Alvarez has steadily improved over the course of the season in the 800-meter run, coming in with a seed time of 1:52.52.
- Amidst his freshman campaign, Cory Gaither currently ranks fourth and fifth on the all-time performers list in the 400-meter and 110-meter hurdles performers, respectively.
- Junior James Davis cleared 4.45-meters in the pole vault three times including a win at that height in the Terrier Relays.
2018 A-10 RECAP
- Paced by Sean Caveney's title in the 400-meter hurdles, the 'Cats placed fifth overall with 60 points at the 2018 A-10 Outdoor Championship at George Mason last May.
- Caveney won his first-ever conference crown on the final day of competition.
- Jacob Hostetler was second in both the 200-meter dash and 400-meter run, setting a new 400m program record in the process.
- Dylan Carmack had a pair of podium runs, taking third in both distance events – the 5k and 10k.
- The 4x100-meter relay team of Hostetler, Miles Hollimon, Will Wicks and George Williams reset the program record, 41.82 seconds.
2019 A-10 INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP
- Jacob Hostetler reset a pair of school records, placing second in the 200-meter and 400-meters at George Mason Field House.
- The 4x800-meter relay team of underclassmen Daniel Alvarez, Taylor Drake, Bryce Kalsu and Raphael Oettl also smashed the program record, stopping the clock in 7:45.98 for a podium spot. Alvarez broke the 1k record, 2:29.51, placing sixth in the finals.
BREAKING THROUGH
- Including indoor in February, Jacob Hostetler has posted four straight individual second-place finishes. The Seattle, Wash., native looks to step onto the top spot of the podium in his final A-10 Championship appearance.
