Kavarana Wins Third A-10 Rookie of the Week for M. Tennis

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Freshman Sam Kavarana won his third weekly award this season by earning the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for men's tennis in matches played from April 1-7, as announced by the league office today.
Kavarana gives Davidson its seventh weekly award winner this season. The three rookie of the week awards for the freshman is the most since Axel Fries won the honor five times in 2017.
A native from Charleston, S.C., Kavarana won his lone singles match of the week against College of Charleston with a 6-4, 6-2 decision at No. 3 singles. The win gives the first-year player an 11-4 record, tied for the team lead in wins, while improving to 9-4 on the season at No. 3.
Davidson wraps up the regular season this week with matches against UNCG (April 10) at home and at Appalachian State (April 14).
