Women's T&F Opens Its Outdoor Campaign at 49er Classic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –The Davidson women's track and field team wrapped up its first outdoor meet of the season Saturday at the 49er Classic hosted by Charlotte at Irwin Belk Track.
 
Senior Caroline Yarbrough set a new personal best in the outdoor 3k, taking second overall, but the first collegiate to cross the line in 9:53.16.
 
Eleni Daughters took third in the 800-meter run, stopping the clock in 2:13.33. Senior Sophia Mills (2:15.06) and classmate Claire Nieusma (2:19.53) also competed in the half mile with Mills placing eighth. Mills also placed high in Friday's 1500-meter run, taking fourth with a time of 4:33.65.
 
Freshman Marquia Humphries competed in the 200-meter dash, stopping the clock in 26.20 seconds.
 
The Wildcat 4x400-meter relay ended the day with a sixth-place result, combining to stop the clock in 3:51.02. The 4x100-meter relay team placed 11th with a time of 48.60 seconds.
 
On Friday's opening day, Wildcat freshman Anna Davis placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.13.
 
Davidson junior Makayla Binter competed in the heptathlon over the last few days, earning 4507 points to place fourth overall.
 
Davidson returns to the track Friday, Mar. 22 on the opening day of the Winthrop Invitational.
