BOSTON –The Davidson women's track and field team set five school records in a stellar day at the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University Friday afternoon.

"Today was a great test to see where our team is heading into the indoor championship," said Director of Track & Field Jen Straub. "Five school records, ten personal bests and the league leader in the 5k, we definitely made the most of our trip to Boston!"

The Wildcats snapped a school mark in the first event of the day, the 800-meter run. Fresh off a personal best time at the Camel City Invitational last Friday, sophomore Eleni Daughters took third in her heat and stopped the clock in school record fashion, 2:11.24. The time eclipsed Hannah Rieden's '17 previous mark of 2:11.91 set at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship. Daughters and Rieden combine for 9 of the 10 fastest indoor 800m times in program history – the only other, Sarah Sears '18 (2:14.15).

Davidson freshman Bianca Nolde-Lopez came close in her first collegiate meet in December to resetting the 400-meter record and broke through at the fast BU Indoor Track & Tennis Center on Friday, Nolde-Lopez won her section and set the record with a time of 57.82 seconds, edging out teammate Tori Long's best, 57.91 seconds. Sophomore teammate Grace Loehr made it interesting in the next heat, crossing the line in 57.84 seconds, the second-best time in the books.

Despite losing her top spot in the 400-meters, Long reset her own 500-meter program record shortly after. The Greenwood, Ind., native took first in her heat and placed sixth overall, stopping the clock in 1:14.35.

Also looking to drop her own 200-meter program best time down and further out of reach, junior sprinter Katie Hines. Hines has posted the three fastest 200-meter times all-time including today's 25.34 second performance.

The final record of the day came in the 4x400-meter relay. The team of Hines, Loehr, Long and Nolde-Lopez traded off the baton in 3:50.91, shattering the previous mark of 3:54.59.

In the night's finale, senior Caroline Yarbrough ran a stellar 5k time of 16:37.33, finishing eighth overall. Her time currently ranks tops in the Atlantic 10 this season. Junior Paige McKinney boasted a massive personal best, stopping the clock in 17:56.42.

A pair of Wildcat milers set new personal best times on the day. Senior Sophia Mills broke 5:00 for the first time, stopping the clock in 4:58.66, while sophomore Katie MacTurk finished strong in 5:05.95, both personal bests.

Wildcat senior Claire Nieusma finished the half mile in 2:16.27, while sophomore Caroline Willis set a personal best for the second straight week, 2:19.01. Freshman Anna Davis performed well in the 500m, turning in a time of 1:16.75.

Davidson next sends athletes to the Queens University Combined Events meet on Tuesday, Feb. 12 in Charlotte. The whole squad returns Saturday, Feb. 23 for the opening day of the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship in Fairfax, Va.
