DAVIDSON, N.C. – For the second consecutive season, fans will get a chance to see the hometown Wildcats seven times at Richardson Stadium in 2019, announced by Davidson head football coach Scott Abell on Wednesday.
The 'Cats will play a 12-game slate for the first time since 2014. Davidson kicks off the season Aug. 31 when Georgetown returns to Davidson for the first time since 2012. Virginia Lynchburg (Sep. 7) and West Virginia Wesleyan (Sep. 14) also visit in September in non-conference home tilts. The Wildcats hit the road for the first time on Sep. 21 when they travel east to visit former Pioneer Football League foe, Campbell.
Following a bye week in late September, the 'Cats open PFL play on the road at Morehead State (Oct. 5) before returning home for a matchup against the defending league champion, University of San Diego Torreros (Oct. 12). It was in San Diego in 2018 that the 'Cats reset the FCS single-game record for rushing yards (789).
Davidson heads to the Sunshine State twice in '19, first to Jacksonville (Oct. 19) and again on the final road trip of the year to Stetson (Nov. 16). The only other trip sends the 'Cats to Butler on Nov. 9, the first trip to Indianapolis, Ind. in four seasons.
Other PFL squads visiting campus, Marist (Oct. 26), Valparaiso (Nov. 2) and Drake (Nov. 23) for Senior Day.
The league opponent left off the slate this season, the Dayton Flyers.
