WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Davidson junior Katie Hines broke a 10-year-old 60-meter dash record as the women's track and field team set seven new personal bests over the weekend at the Camel City Invitational at JDL Fast Track.

In Friday's opening day, Hines raced down the home stretch in the dash in 7.90 seconds, the first-ever time she has broken 8 seconds in the event, and narrowly snapped Kim Colley's 2009  mark of 7.91 seconds. In all, the four Wildcats to compete in the 60 set new best marks, Tori Long (8.07), Meghan Corso (8.09) and Saidah Rahman (8.38). Earlier in the day, Hines placed eighth with a time of 25.82 seconds in the 200-meters, while Long set a new indoor best in the event, stopping the clock in 26.24 seconds.

A pair of Wildcat middle-distance runners set early personal bests. In the first event Friday, senior Caroline Yarbrough stopped the clock in the mile at 5:00.16, good for sixth overall. In the next women's event, sophomore Eleni Daughters ran the 800-meters in a new best result, stopping the clock in 2:12.62, fifth overall, but the third collegiate to cross the line athlete in the field.

On Saturday, Grace Loehr broke a minute in the 400-meters, stopping the clock in 59.47 seconds. A pair of Ffreshmen Marquia Humphries and Sophia Ackerman raced into the top 10 performers list. Humphries stopped the clock in 1:00.26, while Ackerman came home in 1:00.51.

Davidson returns to the track Thursday, Feb. 7 at the JDL Team Challenge. First event from JDL Fast Track is slated to start at 5 p.m.
