Volleyball Takes 3-2 Loss at Fordham

THE BRONX, N.Y. — Hattie Rodriguez posted a career-best 26 kills, but the Davidson volleyball team fell 3-2 at Fordham Saturday evening in Atlantic 10 play.

Playing for the second time in less than 24 hours, the Wildcats (10-15, 5-7 A-10) forced a fifth set with a 25-23 win in the fourth. But the Rams rallied from a 12-7 deficit in the fifth to win 15-13 and clinch it.

After dropping the first set 25-16, Davidson posted a 25-13 win in the second, and Fordham took the third 25-20.

The reigning A-10 Offensive Player of the Week, Rodriguez set her previous high of 22 kills against George Washington on Nov. 1. Her 25th kill Saturday sealed the fourth-set win.

Annalyse Kitzberger and Madeline Wynn had double-digit kills as well, finishing with 12 and 11, respectively.

Sydney Champaigne totaled 52 assists, and Josie Treadwell had 27 digs.

Davidson will play its final two regular season matches on the road next weekend, beginning with a 7 p.m. contest at Dayton on Friday, Nov. 15.
