BRONX, N.Y. – Fighting for a chance to advance to the Atlantic 10 Championship for the first time, Davidson fell just short in a 2-1 overtime defeat at Fordham Monday morning in women's soccer inside Jack Coffey Stadium.

The game was started overall Monday morning after only 45 minutes were played on Sunday due to heavy rain that forced the field to be unplayable. Davidson, which needed a win to be one of eight teams to reach the championship, grabbed the lead first in the second half, but the Rams (5-10-4, 4-4-2 A-10) tied things up late in the half and ended it just over four minutes into overtime.

Despite the setback, the Wildcats (8-8-3, 3-5-2 A-10) still enjoyed a successful campaign and had their best record in the A-10.

"Really tough for our group today with so much on the line going into to the last game. It was an even game, but based on the tie breakers we had to win and Fordham needed a tie. In OT, we had to push numbers forward and we conceded on the counter attack with a good shot from a distance."

"I am extremely proud of this team. This has been our most competitive year since we moved into the A-10. The games we lost were by one goal, two in the last minutes and two in OT. We were competing in all the games and it came to the final game for qualification. While we are disappointed for the team, and especially the senior class, we have to look at the positives from the season. It's our best points total since entering the A-10 and our first winning season in eight years. We will continue to build from this season and I am very grateful for all the of the players efforts this year."

•After 45 minutes of play, Davidson was the first to score with a goal at the 66:26 mark when Rachel Schleicher netted her first career goal for a 1-0 lead.
•The score stayed that way until Fordham knotted things up in the 80th minute with a rebound goal from Crea Baker-Durante. Margaret Roughley was credited with an assist.
•Fordham scored the game-winner at the 94:20 mark with a shot from 20-yards out to the top right off the foot of Marissa Stanco, who broke free from her defender for the counter attack goal.
•Both teams were more aggressive in the second half, combining for 13 shots compared to five in the first half.
•The Wildcats finished the game with seven shots to Fordham's 12, putting three of those shots on goal.
•Corner kicks were 4-1 in favor of the Rams.
•Goalkeeper Mary Grace Bunch earned three saves and finished the season with a personal-best 42 saves.
•Davidson finished the season with its most wins since 2011 (9-9-2) as well as its best A-10 finish since joining in 2014.
