PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Davidson field hockey team had its hands full with nationally ranked Saint Joseph's Friday afternoon.
The No. 11 Hawks emerged with a 5-0 win to clinch their fourth straight outright Atlantic 10 Conference regular season title.
After more than 14 minutes of scoreless play Friday, the Hawks struck in the final seconds of the first quarter with a goal by Emily Sayre, which was set up by a penalty corner. Then Jordan Olenginski and Kate Blincoe added goals in the opening minutes of the second quarter to help the Hawks pull away. Emily Peters and Kacie Patton added second-half goals.
Davidson goalkeeper Sarah Zeszotarski recorded eight saves. Amy Worscheh and Valerie Hajek had the lone Wildcat shots, with Hajek's on goal.
